FIRM DESCRIPTION
Serving the Boston area, Jan Gleysteen Architects, Inc. is a full service architectural firm founded on the philosophy of design excellence, sound management, technical knowledge, and a close and responsive collaboration with our clients. We pride ourselves on professional service along with creative attention to details and costs throughout the design and building process.
Our architectural projects are based on both proven and innovative design ideas. They are combined to provide classic elegance with an up to date aesthetic sensibility and a functional modern lifestyle. The final design is expressed through proportion, balance and scale with carefully selected materials and crafted architectural details. To respect our clients’ budgets we work closely with reputable contractors to evaluate costs during the design and construction of a project. In addition to architectural design we provide contract negotiation, contractor selection, and construction management services.

JAN GLEYSTEEN NCARB, AIA PRINCIPAL
Jan Gleysteen is an architect with over thirty years of professional experience in the design of fine commercial and residential architecture. His projects to date include custom residential work, office buildings, corporate facilities, renovations, churches, and commercial interiors. He founded Jan Gleysteen Architect in New York City in 1989, and moved his practice to the Boston area in 1991. Previously Mr. Gleysteen was a project manager at the critically acclaimed firm of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, NYC, where for seven years he was responsible for several award winning large scale commercial and corporate office projects nationwide.
Mr. Gleysteen received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University in 1976 and the Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Architecture and Planning at Columbia University in 1980, where he was a recipient of the Ware Traveling Fellowship. He has in-depth construction field experience, and also served as a graduate instructor of environmental systems at the Columbia University School of Architecture.
Mr. Gleysteen is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Boston Society of Architects. He was registered as an architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1991, the State of New York in 1983, and has National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) certification. His community service includes serving on the Weston Field School Renovation Committee, the Weston Tarvenside Park Playground Design Committee, the Wellesley Middle School Facilities Advisory Committee, and the Wellesley High School Facilities Advisory Committee.
